Depop, the community-powered marketplace app to buy and sell unique fashion, has partnered with EcoEnclose to bring its US sellers more sustainable packaging solutions.
As part of its 2022 Sustainability Plan, Depop committed to promote circularity in its community by partnering with organisations to offer practical solutions to help buyers and sellers lead a more circular life. This new partnership with EcoEnclose is providing this, making it easy for sellers to find eco-friendly packaging at competitive prices.
This partnership also contributes to reducing Depop's indirect greenhouse gas emissions, as seller packaging is one of the key drivers of its Scope 3 emissions. This initiative is part of the company's plan to reach its Net Zero targets, which were set as part of Etsy Inc.
In the US, 55% of US consumers are very or extremely concerned about the environmental impact of packaging[1], and with Depop users specifically, 75% of them are already recycling more including packaging[2], while 65% of sellers are interested in purchasing more sustainable packaging via Depop at a discounted rate[3].
EcoEnclose + Depop packaging is made from 100% recycled materials or certified, responsibly sourced paper, which is easier to recycle at home. It comes in the most commonly used packaging types and sizes on Depop, branded or unbranded.
With a view to encourage packaging reuse, the EcoEnclose + Depop packaging range also includes a Depop-branded sticker which calls out that it is a reused package, and to spruce up secondhand mailers.
Sellers are now able to purchase packaging and stationary from a co-branded page on Eco-Enclose’s website.
This is one way that Depop is helping to shape a fashion system that’s kinder to the planet.
